David: Daddy? Sweetheart, what did you just call me?
Lily: You're my daddy... Mommy showed me your picture every single night before she got sick...
David: Oh god... Victoria, who is this child?!
Victoria: She's a nobody, David! She's a liar trying to ruin our family!
David: She's ten years old! How can a ten-year-old child be a liar?!
David leaned deeper into the cabinet space, gathering the cold, trembling girl into his arms and pulling her out onto the polished wooden floor. Lily wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, sobbing softly into his suit jacket while Emily watched with innocent eyes.
Lily: The mean lady put me in the dark box three weeks ago... she said if I made a sound, she would send me away forever...
David: Three weeks?! You've been locked in a cabinet for three weeks?!
Victoria: David, listen to me! I did it for us! I did it for our estate!
David: You locked my child in a storage cabinet to protect an estate?!
Victoria: She isn't just a child, David! She's the primary heir to your father's trust fund! If the probate court finds out she exists, half of this mansion belongs to her!
David: My father's trust fund? What are you talking about?
Victoria: Your late father knew about her! He left a hidden codicil in his will three years ago!
David stood up slowly, cradling Lily against his chest while holding Emily's tiny hand. His face turned as hard as stone as he stared at Victoria, who was backing away toward the framed American flag.
David: My father had another granddaughter?
Victoria: She's the daughter of your first wife, Sarah! The woman who disappeared ten years ago!
David: Sarah didn't disappear, Victoria! You told me she abandoned me and moved to Europe!
Victoria: She didn't abandon you... your father paid her to leave because he didn't approve of her family!
Lily: Mommy didn't take the money, Daddy... she kept me safe in Austin until she passed away last month...
David: Sarah passed away? And you knew about it, Victoria?
Victoria: The social worker called this house three weeks ago when Sarah died in the hospital! I answered the phone!
David: You answered the phone, drove to Austin, picked up my daughter, and locked her under the stairs?!
Victoria: I was going to send her to a private boarding school in Switzerland next week! I just needed to keep her hidden until the paperwork cleared!
David: You are a monster, Victoria. A heartless, greedy monster.
Victoria: I am your wife! I protected your status in this city! If the board of directors finds out about an illegitimate child, your CEO position at Sterling Enterprises is over!
David: I don't give a damn about the CEO position! This is my daughter!
David walked past Victoria, carrying Lily down the long, bright hallway toward the living room. Victoria ran after him, her heels clicking frantically against the hardwood floor.
Victoria: David, stop! Think about our reputation! Think about what the neighbors will say!
David: The only thing I'm thinking about right now is how long you are going to spend in a state prison cell.
