David immediately picked up his desk phone and dialed the police emergency number.
David: I need officers at the Sterling estate immediately to arrest someone for child endangerment.
Evelyn panicked and tried to run out of the office into the foyer.
David moved fast and blocked the doorway with his tall frame.
David: You are not going anywhere until the police arrive!
Evelyn tried to push past him, screaming hysterically about her rights.
David held the door firmly shut, keeping her trapped inside the hallway area.
Within ten minutes, loud police sirens echoed outside the front driveway.
Two police officers walked into the grand foyer with their badges displayed.
David handed them the digital memory drive containing the clear video footage.
David: This woman put my daughter in extreme danger today.
The officers reviewed the brief clip on a tablet device and nodded sternly.
They placed handcuffs on Evelyn's wrists despite her loud screaming.
Evelyn: You cannot do this to me, I am the lady of this mansion!
Officer: You have the right to remain silent, ma'am, walk forward now.
They led Evelyn out the large double front doors into the waiting police cruiser.
The grand foyer suddenly became completely quiet and peaceful again.
David walked over to Clara, his eyes filled with overwhelming gratitude.
He looked at the dark bruise on Clara's forehead from her hard landing.
David: Clara, you saved my daughter's life today when I was not here.
Clara: I would do anything to keep sweet Lily safe, Mr. Sterling.
David knelt down next to his daughter who was sitting on the couch.
Lily ran over and threw her small arms around Clara's neck.
Lily: Thank you for catching me, Clara.
Clara hugged the child tightly, tears of sweet relief spilling over her cheeks.
David smiled softly and wiped a tear from his own eye.
David: You are no longer just a maid in this home, Clara.
David: You are a hero, and you will always have a place here with us.
David offered Clara a permanent position as the head estate manager with full trust.
Clara held Lily close, knowing that truth and courage had finally won the day.
