Evelyn's face turned completely pale when Clara mentioned the cameras.
She stepped in front of David to block him from moving toward his office.
Evelyn: That is ridiculous, those upper hallway cameras do not even work!
Clara: You told everyone they were fake, but Mr. Sterling knows the truth.
David looked at his wife with a sudden rise of suspicion in his mind.
David: I activated those cameras fully when we updated the house security.
Evelyn: David, darling, you do not need to check anything on a maid's word!
David: Move aside, Evelyn, I am going to look at the footage right now.
David carried Lily into his private ground-floor office.
Evelyn followed close behind him, her hands shaking with deep panic.
Clara walked into the office behind them, keeping her head held high.
David set Lily down gently on the leather couch near the window.
He walked behind his large mahogany desk and turned on his computer monitor.
He logged into the estate security system with his primary password.
The screen displayed twelve distinct camera angles from around the property.
David selected the camera angle that covered the upper floor balcony.
He rewound the footage by ten minutes and pressed the play button.
The video clearly showed Evelyn walking up to Lily on the balcony.
It showed Evelyn grabbing the young child's arm with unnecessary force.
The video showed Evelyn lifting the girl slightly over the marble railing.
Then it clearly captured the moment Evelyn released her grip completely.
David gasped loudly as he watched his daughter drop through the air on screen.
The video showed Clara sprinting with incredible speed across the marble floor.
It captured Clara throwing her own body under the falling child to save her life.
David turned his head slowly away from the screen to face Evelyn.
His hands were shaking with absolute rage and disbelief.
David: How could you do this to an innocent little girl?
Evelyn backed away toward the office door with her mouth open.
Evelyn: David, please, it was an accident, she tripped!
David: The video shows you letting go of her on purpose!
Evelyn: I was just trying to scare her a little bit so she would obey me!
David: You tried to take my daughter's life under my own roof!
