The Slap Near The Water

Diving Into The Pool For A Baby Exposed A Wealthy Stepmother's Dark Secret

Brandon: Victoria! What on earth are you doing?! Stop it right now!

Victoria: Brandon, thank God you came outside! This crazy woman just tried to drown your baby boy in the deep end!

Clara: That is a complete lie! Mr. Vance, please listen to me! I dived in after him!

Victoria: Shut your mouth, you filthy maid! You pushed the stroller right over the edge when my back was turned!

Brandon rushed over to Clara, scooping little Leo into his arms. The baby cried hysterically against his shoulder, his clothes soaked through with pool water.

Brandon: Leo! Oh God, buddy, you're shivering! Are you okay?!

Victoria: He's cold because she threw him into six feet of water, Brandon! She tried to murder your heir so she could get back at us!

Clara: Mr. Vance, I would never hurt Leo! I jumped into the pool to save him while your wife stood there and watched!

Victoria: Look at her lying, Brandon! Look at her trying to shift the blame onto me after I caught her red-handed!

Brandon looked down at Clara, who was still lying on the wet stone patio, her uniform soaked and her cheek turning bright red from Victoria's heavy slap.

Brandon: Clara, why were you even out by the pool with the stroller in the first place?

Clara: You asked me to bring Leo's extra blanket out to the patio ten minutes ago, Mr. Vance! You were in your home office!

Victoria: I never saw any blanket! She walked out here with the stroller alone and shoved it toward the deep end!

Clara: That is not true! Victoria pushed the handles with both hands! I saw her look right at the water before she shoved it!

Victoria: How dare you call me by my first name! You are a domestic servant in this mansion! Learn your place!

Brandon: Victoria, calm down for a second! Let me wrap Leo in a towel first!

Brandon pulled a dry pool towel off a lounge chair and wrapped it tightly around his crying son, cradling him close against his chest.

Victoria: You need to fire her right now, Brandon! Call the Dallas police and have her taken away in handcuffs!

Clara: Call the police, Mr. Vance! Please call them! I want the police to come here and investigate this entire yard!

Victoria: See?! She's unhinged! She's trying to make a scene in front of the neighbors!

Brandon: Clara, get up off the wet stone floor. You're shivering uncontrollably.

Clara: I don't care about being wet, Mr. Vance. I care about your son's life. She deliberately tried to drown him today!

Victoria: Brandon, if you don't fire this woman this very second, I am taking my bags and leaving for my mother's house in Houston!

Brandon: Victoria, stop threatening to leave every time there's a conflict! We need to figure out what actually happened here!

Victoria: What is there to figure out?! A baby ended up in the pool, and she was standing right next to the water!

Clara: Because I dived in after him! Look at my clothes! Look at my hair! If I pushed him in, why would I jump into six feet of water in a full uniform to pull him out?!

Victoria froze for a fraction of a second, her face tightening as she struggled to come up with a quick answer.

Victoria: She... she panicked when she heard Brandon opening the double doors! She jumped in to make herself look like a hero!

Clara: That makes no sense, and you know it!

Brandon: Victoria... Clara makes a valid point. If she wanted to harm Leo, she wouldn't have ruined her own lungs diving to the bottom of the deep end.

Victoria: Are you taking the side of a maid over your own fiancée, Brandon?! We're getting married next month!

Brandon: I'm not taking anyone's side yet! I'm trying to protect my son!

Clara: Mr. Vance, look up at the green hedge wall right behind the sun lounge chairs.

Brandon turned his head, his eyes tracking up toward the lush green foliage lining the stone perimeter of the pool area.

Brandon: What about the hedge wall?

Clara: Mounted right inside the leaves is a white security camera. It records every single angle of this swimming pool in high definition.

Victoria's eyes widened in sudden, absolute terror as she looked up at the small white camera lens glinting in the bright Texas sunlight.
