The morning breeze blew gently across the patio of the Dallas estate, making the bright blue water in the swimming pool ripple under the warm Texas sun. An American flag flew proudly on a tall pole in the yard, casting a soft shadow over the stone tiles. It seemed like a peaceful morning in the luxury neighborhood, but near the edge of the deep end, a quiet nightmare was about to explode.
Victoria: You should have stayed inside the servant quarters, Clara. You don't belong anywhere near this family.
Clara: I was just bringing out the baby's blanket, Mrs. Sterling. Mr. Vance asked me to make sure Leo was dressed warm.
Victoria: Mr. Vance isn't here to protect you right now. And he won't be here to protect that little brat either.
Clara adjusted her black-and-white maid's uniform, her heart pounding as Victoria stepped closer to the baby stroller parked near the pool's edge. Seven-month-old Leo giggled softly inside, unaware of the cold look in his stepmother's eyes.
Clara: Mrs. Sterling, please step back from the stroller. It's too close to the water!
Victoria: Oops. My hand slipped.
With a deliberate, powerful shove, Victoria pushed the stroller straight over the stone coping. Clara gasped as the stroller plunged into the deep end, splashing water high into the air as it rapidly sank toward the bottom with the infant strapped inside.
Clara: LEO!
Without a second of hesitation, Clara sprinted across the wet patio and dived headfirst into the freezing pool. Bubbles swirled around her as she kicked hard through the deep blue water, reaching down frantically for the submerged stroller.
Clara: I've got you, baby! Hold on!
Her hands grabbed the fabric straps underwater, unbuckling the latch with shaking fingers. She pulled the infant out of the sinking seat and kicked upward, breaking through the surface with a heavy gasp of air.
Clara: I saved him! 🇺🇸
She lifted the crying baby safely onto the stone edge before pulling herself out of the pool, dripping wet and shivering. She dropped to her knees on the patio, clutching the sobbing boy tightly against her chest with deep emotional relief.
Suddenly, the heavy double glass doors of the mansion swung wide open. Brandon, dressed in a black shirt and trousers, rushed outside after hearing the loud splash and distant screams.
Brandon: What happened out here?! What was that noise?!
Victoria immediately turned around, pointing a sharp, accusatory finger down at the wet maid on the ground, her face twisting into a fake expression of panic.
Victoria: She pushed him in! She tried to kill your son!
Before Clara could even speak, Victoria stepped forward and delivered a loud, powerful slap directly across Clara's face. The impact echoed across the water, sending Clara tumbling hard onto the wet stone floor. Tears streamed down Clara's face as she lay on the wet tiles, the gold wedding ring on her finger glinting under the Texas sun. She looked up in complete shock, but the truth about why she was wearing that ring in this mansion was about to shatter everything Brandon believed.
