Walking Away From The Nightmare

When His Mother Ruined My Wedding My Father Stepped In

Sarah took off her torn lace veil with steady hands.

She dropped the white lace onto the green grass below.

She took off her diamond engagement ring slowly and deliberately.

She walked up to Dev and dropped it in his palm.

Sarah: Keep your ring and your mother's fake pride.

Dev: Sarah, please don't do this to our family!

Dev: We can fix this! I will stand up to her!

Sarah: It is far too late for that now, Dev.

Sarah: You chose your side when I needed you most.

Sarah turned her back on her groom without another word.

She walked down the central aisle beside her strong father.

The wedding guests stood up and cheered for Sarah loudly.

Many people shook Arthur's hand as they walked past chairs.

Eleanor yelled desperately after the crowd leaving the garden.

Eleanor: Sit down! The ceremony is not over yet!

Nobody listened to Eleanor's angry and desperate shouts anymore.

Guests began leaving their seats and exiting toward their cars.

Dev sank down onto his knees in the grass, sobbing.

He looked at the small diamond ring in his trembling hand.

He had lost the best thing that ever happened to him.

Arthur opened the passenger door of his black SUV safely.

He helped Sarah sit down inside the comfortable leather seat.

Arthur: You are safe now, my darling daughter.

Sarah: Thank you for saving me today, Dad.

Arthur: A father always protects his child, no matter what.

Arthur closed the door softly and walked to the driver side.

They drove away from the garden into the bright Texas sun.

Sarah placed her hand on her belly and smiled softly.

She knew a brighter, peaceful future lay directly ahead now.
