Marcus: Come on, Evelyn. My car is waiting at the end of the aisle.
Liam: Mr. Sterling, please! If you foreclose on this house, my family has nowhere else to go!
Marcus: You should have thought about that before you let your mother abuse my daughter under that arch.
Beatrice: Liam, stop begging him! We have other investments! We have the offshore accounts your father set up in the Bahamas!
Marcus: You mean the accounts that were frozen last week by the IRS for tax evasion, Beatrice?
Beatrice froze in place, her face turning completely pale as her hands dropped to her sides.
Beatrice: How... how do you know about those accounts?
Marcus: Because my legal team was appointed as the receiver for the bankruptcy court. Every dollar your husband tried to hide was flagged and seized six days ago.
Liam: Mom... is that true? Are we completely broke?
Beatrice: I... I thought the accountants had fixed that problem...
Marcus: You have no offshore money, no business holdings, and as of tomorrow, no mansion. You are broke, Beatrice. Completely and utterly broke.
Evelyn: All this time, you called me a gold-digger... but you were the one hiding behind fake wealth the whole time.
Beatrice: Shut your mouth, girl!
Marcus: Step back, Beatrice! One more insult toward my daughter and I will personally file civil harassment charges against you before the sun goes down!
Liam: Evelyn, I swear I didn't know about the bankruptcy! I thought we were wealthy!
Evelyn: That makes it even worse, Liam. You treated me like dirt just to protect money that didn't even exist.
Liam: I was just trying to make my mother proud of me!
Evelyn: And in the process, you lost your wife and your child. Was it worth it?
Liam stood speechless on the lawn, his eyes fixed on the crushed white chairs where he had fallen moments earlier. Tears began to stream down his face as the magnitude of his mistake crashed over him.
Marcus: Let's go, Evelyn. The air out here is toxic.
Evelyn: Goodbye, Liam. Don't bother calling my phone again.
Marcus put his arm around Evelyn, guiding her gently past the remaining guests who were frantically snapping photos and recording videos on their smartphones.
Beatrice: Delete those videos! Every single one of you, put your phones away right now!
Guest A: Too late, Beatrice! It's already on live stream!
Beatrice: You ungrateful vultures! Get off my lawn!
Guest B: It's not your lawn anymore, Beatrice! Didn't you hear the man?
