The Balcony Confrontation

The Rich Matriarch Tried To Steal Her Grandson's Life

Arthur rushed into the bedroom and picked up his sleeping child.

The infant stirred gently and opened his bright brown eyes.

Arthur: Everything is going to be okay, my sweet boy.

Maria gathered the infant bag filled with warm clothes.

Maria: The side staircase leads straight to your car outside.

Suddenly Evelyn blocked the doorway with her arms spread wide.

She snatched the blue baby blanket from Maria's hands.

Evelyn: You are not taking anything bought with my family money!

Arthur: Let us pass right now, Evelyn, or I call police!

Evelyn grabbed the baby's golden identity locket off the table.

The locket contained the only official legal trust key code.

Evelyn: Without this locket, you have no access to any money!

She ran toward the open marble balcony overlooking the foyer.

Arthur gasped in horror and followed her onto the stone balcony.

Arthur: Stop right there on the edge of the balcony!

Evelyn held the golden locket high over the stone railing.

The long drop below led straight to the marble floor.

Evelyn: Give me the white paper file or I drop this key!

Maria: No! Please do not throw that down, ma'am!

The wind blew through the open doors across the balcony floor.

Arthur held his son tight against his chest with one arm.

He reached his other hand out slowly toward his stepmother.

Arthur: You have gone completely mad over this family money!

Evelyn: This money belongs to me and my natural heirs!

Arthur: My baby is the rightful heir to everything here!

Evelyn moved her hand farther over the edge of the rail.

The tiny golden chain swung loose in the cool morning air.

Evelyn: Sign the surrender papers or watch your legacy shatter!

Arthur: I will never sign my son's life away to you!

Maria snuck around behind Evelyn near the glass door frame.

She was waiting for the right moment to step in safely.

Maria: Think about what your late husband would say today!

Evelyn: He is gone and I run this estate now, servant!

Arthur took a slow careful step forward on the smooth stone.

His shoes made no sound against the white marble floor.

Arthur: Put the locket on the table and let us talk quiet.

Evelyn: You think you can order me around in my own home?

Evelyn opened her fingers and dropped the golden locket down.

The small gold piece fell fast toward the hard floor below.

Maria gasped in loud horror as the chain fell through air.

Maria: Oh no, the trust key is falling downstairs!

Arthur acted without thinking about his own safety at all.

He held his swaddled baby safely in his strong left arm.

He sprinted fast toward the marble stairs to reach the foyer.

The danger was growing closer with every passing second now.
