David pushed the heavy wooden study door wide open.
Evelyn and the stranger jumped back in complete shock.
David: Clueless and weak, am I?
Evelyn: David! How long have you been standing right there?
David: Long enough to record your entire little plan on video.
The man in the grey suit grabbed his briefcase and ran out fast.
Evelyn tried to smile and stepped toward David with open hands.
Evelyn: Honey, please listen to me, it was just a misunderstanding!
David: Do not touch me, Evelyn!
David: You tried to steal my daughter's inheritance behind my back.
David: You treated my child like garbage by the pool yesterday.
Evelyn: I did it for us, David! We needed financial freedom!
David: You did it for your own sick greed.
Two police officers suddenly walked into the hallway behind David.
Mr. Harrison had alerted the local Dallas police station earlier.
Officer: Evelyn Vance, you are under investigation for attempted financial fraud.
Evelyn: This is ridiculous! I am the lady of this mansion!
Officer: Ma'am, step away from the desk and put your hands behind your back.
Evelyn glared at David with pure rage in her dark eyes.
Evelyn: You think you won, David? I will sue you for alimony!
David: Our prenup states clearly that fraud cancels all financial support.
David: You will not get a single cent from my family or estate.
The officers handcuffed Evelyn and led her down the grand staircase.
Lily came out of her bedroom, clutching her mother's silver locket tightly.
She watched her stepmother get escorted out the front door.
