The Fall On The Marble Floor

Dropping Her Baby On The Balcony Uncovered A Wealthy Stepmother's Dark Scheme

Brandon: What is going on in here?! What was that noise?!

Brandon's eyes widened in horror as he saw Clara kneeling on the white marble floor, tears streaming down her face as she clutched infant Leo tightly against her chest.

Clara: Mr. Sterling! Oh God, Mr. Sterling, please help us!

Brandon: Leo! Is he hurt?! What happened to my son?!

Brandon sprinted across the foyer, dropping to his knees beside the maid and taking his crying son into his arms, checking his head and small arms with trembling hands.

Clara: I caught him, sir! I caught him right before he hit the marble floor!

Brandon: Caught him? From where?!

Clara: From the upper balcony, sir! She held him over the railing and let him go!

Brandon froze, his head snapping upward toward the second-floor balcony where Victoria stood gripping the wrought-iron railing, her sequined dress shimmering in the sunlight.

Brandon: Victoria... what did you do?!

Victoria: Brandon! Thank goodness you're home! The maid is lying! She snatched the baby out of my arms and tripped on the stairs!

Clara: That's a lie! You held him over the ledge! You looked right at me and opened your hands!

Brandon: Get out of my house immediately! Call 911!

Clara: Yes, sir! I'm calling them right now from the kitchen phone!

Brandon handed the crying baby to Clara for a brief second, his face twisting into an expression of raw, unbridled fury as he turned toward the grand staircase.

Victoria: Brandon, listen to me! You can't believe a word that servant says! She's been jealous of me since the day we got married!

Brandon: Shut up, Victoria! Just shut your mouth!

Brandon took the marble stairs three at a time, his heavy dress shoes pounding against the steps as he sprinted up toward the second floor.

Victoria: Brandon, please! It was an accident! He squirmed and slipped out of my hands!

Brandon: Stop!

Brandon reached the top of the landing and marched straight toward Victoria, towering over her on the balcony with his finger pointed directly into her face.

Victoria: Brandon, you're scaring me! I swear to you I was just holding him up to see the chandelier!

Brandon: You held a seven-month-old infant over a twenty-foot drop, Victoria! There is no excuse in the world for what you just did!

Victoria: I lost my grip! My hands were slippery from hand lotion! You know how active he is!

Brandon: Do not lie to my face! Clara saw you! She was standing right under this balcony when you let him fall!

Victoria: You're going to take the word of a minimum-wage maid over your own wife?!

Brandon: I am taking the word of the woman who saved my son's life while you stood up here and watched him plummet toward the floor!

Victoria backed up against the wrought-iron railing, her eyes darting nervously toward the hallway behind her.

Victoria: Brandon, sweetie, calm down. Leo is fine! He isn't hurt! The maid caught him!

Brandon: She caught him because she risked her own body to slide across marble tiles! If she hadn't been down there, my son would be dead right now!
