The morning sun brightened the large windows of the downtown courthouse.
Richard and Evelyn walked hand in hand into the legal chamber.
Their attorney sat at the head table with thick blue legal files.
The prosecutor greeted them with a confident smile on his face.
"The evidence against the suspect is completely solid," the attorney stated.
"His attempt to extort your trust fund was recorded on film."
Evelyn sat down at the table feeling relieved for the first time.
"I was worried he would find another way to target us," she admitted.
"His asset accounts are frozen by court order," the attorney explained.
"He will serve significant time for his criminal actions against your home."
The judge entered the chamber and called the session into order.
The suspect was brought inside wearing an orange jumpsuit from county jail.
He refused to look toward Richard or Evelyn during the reading.
The judge reviewed the security camera footage provided by the defense.
"The video clearly shows clear intent to cause terror," the judge declared.
"Bail is denied and trial is set for next month."
The courtroom gavels banged heavily against the wooden desk surface.
Richard signed the final protection orders to secure their living space.
They walked out of the courthouse feeling victorious and completely free.
"Let's go home and spend the day with Maya," Evelyn suggested softly.
"That sounds like the best idea in the world," Richard replied.
They drove back toward their suburban neighborhood under clear skies.
The white mansion looked peaceful and welcoming as they pulled up.
The grand staircase inside no longer held bad memories of fear.
The sun streamed through the balcony glass casting light onto marble.
Maya was playing happily on the soft living room rug with toys.
She ran over to greet her parents with a huge smile.
"Mommy, Daddy!" the little girl cheered while holding her teddy bear.
Richard picked her up and held her close to his heart again.
Evelyn wrapped her arms around both of them with true contentment.
They knew their bond was stronger than any outside threat or lie.
The estate felt like a true home once again after the storm.
Richard promised himself to always listen before making quick judgments.
Evelyn promised to share every burden with her husband without fear.
They walked out to the grand garden behind the white mansion.
The flowers were blooming bright colors under the clear blue sky.
A bright future lay ahead for the family built on trust.
