Mark stood over Clara, his fists clenched tightly at his sides in deep fury.
Mark: You put your rough hands on my innocent little daughter in my own home?
Clara: It was barely anything at all, so stop acting like a dramatic victim!
Clara rolled her cold eyes and tried to brush past Mark toward the front hallway.
Mark stepped firmly into her path, blocking the exit with his large dark frame.
Mark: You are not walking away from this terrible action so easily today, Clara!
Clara: You always take her side over your own blood family, you ungrateful brother!
Sarah held little Lily tightly, rocking the crying baby back and forth to calm her down.
She could see the intense rage burning bright behind Mark’s usually gentle dark eyes.
Sarah: She has hated our family ever since we bought this nice home, Mark.
Sarah: She has been making cruel comments behind your back for months now.
Clara turned her head sharply toward Sarah with a bitter glare on her pale face.
Clara: Shut your mouth before I give you something real to cry about!
Mark snapped instantly upon hearing his sister threaten his wife so openly and rudely.
He grabbed Clara by her sweater sleeve and shoved her back away from Sarah.
Clara knocked into a heavy dining chair, sending it crashing loudly onto the floor.
Clara: How dare you lay a hand on me in front of everyone!
Mark: You lost all my respect the second you harmed an innocent nine-month-old child!
The bright Christmas tree lights flashed quietly in the background of the dark confrontation.
Mark’s breathing was heavy as he stared down at his cruel sister with pure disgust.
Clara’s face paled slightly as she realized Mark was truly done protecting her ego.
She had pushed her brother past his absolute limit, and there was no turning back.
Clara: I am your sister, Mark, you cannot throw me out like trash!
Mark: Watch me do exactly that if you do not leave right now!
Sarah moved toward the corner sofa, carefully comforting the small baby in her arms.
She watched her husband stand up for their family with incredible strength and courage.
Clara looked around the room, finding zero sympathy from anyone in the bright house.
Her cruel actions had stripped away the last remaining bond between the distant siblings.
