The black car sped back up the long stone driveway toward the front gates.
Inside the grand mansion, Victoria snatched the soft baby carrier from the desk.
She intended to carry the child directly to her car parked right outside.
Elena rushed out of the nursery and followed her down the wide hallway.
Elena: Stop right there, Mrs. Vance, you cannot do this!
Victoria: Get back to your quarters before I call the police on you!
Victoria moved quickly toward the grand staircase holding the baby close to her.
The swaddled child cried loudly from the sudden sharp movement and high stress.
Elena ran ahead and stood at the bottom of the black-and-white marble stairs.
She put her hands out to prevent Victoria from rushing past her recklessly.
Elena: You are putting the child in danger by rushing like this!
Victoria: Move out of my way right now, you insolent girl!
Victoria reached the main foyer floor and stepped toward the heavy front exit.
She raised her hand and pointed furiously at Elena with extreme anger.
Victoria: Stay away from him, or I will destroy your career forever!
Elena stood firmly between Victoria and the exit doors without shrinking back once.
She knew she was risking her livelihood, but the baby's safety came first.
Elena: I am not afraid of your threats anymore, Mrs. Vance!
Suddenly, the massive front double doors burst open with a loud bang.
Julian stepped through the threshold with his grey suit jacket buttoned tight.
His face was filled with utter shock and rising fury at the scene.
He took fast, heavy strides across the checkered marble tile floor straight over.
Julian: What on earth is happening in my house right now?
Victoria immediately changed her tone and tried to put on a sweet smile.
Victoria: Oh, Julian, thank goodness you came back early to help me!
Victoria: This crazy maid was trying to take Leo away from the house!
Elena fell to her knees on the marble floor with tears streaming down.
Elena: That is a complete lie, Mr. Vance, please listen to me!
Julian looked down at the weeping maid and then back at his wife.
He could see the fear in Elena's eyes and the guilt in Victoria's.
Julian: Step back from my son right now, Victoria, do not move!
Julian quickly reached out and took the crying swaddled baby into his arms.
He held little Leo close against his chest to shield him completely.
Julian: I've got you, son, you are completely safe with me now.
The infant's loud crying began to soften as he felt his father's warmth.
Julian turned his furious gaze directly toward Victoria, who backed away slowly.
Julian: Explain yourself right now before I call the authorities here!
