A Dangerous Lie Unfolds

The Rich Father Discovers The Evil Stepmother's True Secret

Victoria held the heavy metal iron right over the delicate silk fabric again.

The hot steam hissed loudly in the bright morning sunlight flooding the nursery.

Victoria: If this blanket burns, Ethan will think you left the hot iron here.

Clara: You would frame me just to hurt a poor innocent baby?

Victoria: I want this child and his memory out of my new life.

Clara: That is a terrible thing for anyone to say out loud!

Clara rushed forward across the thick white rug without hesitation or fear.

She reached out and grabbed the cord of the heavy steam iron quickly.

Victoria pulled back sharply and lost her balance on her high leather heels.

The iron tumbled from her hand and hit the hardwood floor with a crash.

Hot steam puffed into the air as the heavy iron scraped the floor.

Baby Leo woke up from his nap and began to cry very loudly.

Clara immediately turned her attention to the small crying baby inside the crib.

She scooped the little boy up into her arms and held him close.

Clara: It is okay, little one, you are totally safe with me now.

Victoria scrambled back up off the floor with a look of pure rage.

She pointed her long painted fingernail directly at Clara's tired face.

Victoria: You just laid your hands on me in my own nursery!

Clara: You almost burned this room down with your crazy plot!

Victoria: Ethan will throw you out on the street before noon today!

The heavy brass door handle turned sharply from the outer hallway corridor.

Ethan Montgomery stepped into the bright nursery wearing his dark navy tuxedo suit.

He had just come home early from an important corporate board meeting downtown.

He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the mess on the floor.

The hot iron was resting on the burned wooden floorboards near the crib.

His young son was crying tightly in the trembling nanny's protective arms.

Victoria immediately dropped to her knees and began to sob very dramatically.

Victoria: Oh Ethan, thank goodness you arrived home right in time today!

Ethan: What on earth happened in here to my son's room?

Victoria: The nanny tried to burn the baby's blanket and attacked me!

Clara held the baby tighter as her own tears began to fall.

She looked straight into Ethan's shocked eyes with complete honest truth.

Clara: That is a complete lie, Mr. Montgomery, please listen to me!
