Mark stepped away from the edge of the pool while staring at his wife with horror.
The patio was dead silent except for the heavy sound of little Leo crying in Mark's arms.
Clara took a step backward while shaking her head in an eager attempt to deny the claim.
Clara: Mark, you cannot seriously listen to a maid over your own devoted wife!
Elena wiped the cold water from her face while keeping her steady gaze fixed on Clara.
Elena: I saw your hand push his back right before he fell into the water!
Mark looked down at his soaked child and then looked back up at Clara with total rage.
Mark: Why were you standing so close to the deep end in the first place?
Clara: I was just trying to show him the water because he was getting restless!
Elena stepped between Mark and Clara to make sure the child remained safe from any harm.
Elena: She opened her hands on purpose so the baby would slip straight into the pool!
Clara smoothed her damp green dress while her eyes darted toward the side gate exit path.
Clara: She is just trying to save her job because she was supposed to be watching him!
Mark pulled out his smartphone with one hand while holding Leo tightly with his other arm.
Mark: The security cameras along the roof line recorded every single angle of this deck.
Clara gasped loudly as her face lost every bit of color under the harsh afternoon sunlight.
Clara: You installed extra security cameras without telling me about them first?
Mark: I installed them last week after noticing several strange charges on our joint bank account.
Elena dried her face with a hand towel from the laundry basket sitting near the back door.
Elena: Check the video footage right now before she has a chance to leave this property.
Mark tapped his fingers across the phone screen while pulling up the live security camera log.
Clara slowly backed away toward the garage driveway while keeping her eyes on her angry husband.
Clara: You are making a huge mistake if you choose to doubt my loyalty right now!
Mark: Stop right where you are because nobody is leaving this yard until I see this video!
