Victoria stood frozen on the bottom step of the grand staircase.
She tried to pull her expensive gold dress tighter around her shoulders.
Victoria: You are taking the word of a servant over your own wife!
Mark: I am taking the word of someone who actually cares about my son!
Elena: Check the nursery tablet hidden under the changing table, sir!
Victoria turned her head sharply toward Elena with pure venom in her eyes.
Victoria: Shut your mouth, you foolish girl!
Mark did not wait another single second to act.
He turned to Elena with a sharp focused expression.
Mark: Take Leo into the kitchen and hold him safely for me.
Elena took the baby gently from Mark's strong arms.
Leo let out a quiet sigh and rested his head on Elena's shoulder.
Mark turned back to face Victoria who had stepped back another step.
Mark: Walk upstairs with me right now, Victoria.
Victoria: I do not have to listen to these ridiculous crazy games!
Mark: You will walk upstairs right now or I call my lawyer!
The threat of the family lawyer made Victoria freeze in place.
She knew Mark owned all the assets and the entire family trust.
She had signed a very strict prenuptial agreement before their grand wedding.
Victoria let out a loud dramatic sigh and turned around on the step.
She marched up the wide marble staircase with her head held high.
Mark followed close behind her with heavy firm steps.
They walked down the long carpeted hallway toward the baby's nursery.
The nursery door was painted soft blue with custom wooden letters.
Mark pushed the door open and stepped into the large quiet room.
The air inside the room smelled faintly of lemon cleaner and baby lotion.
Mark walked directly over to the dark wooden changing table in the corner.
He knelt down on the soft grey carpet and reached underneath the frame.
His fingers brushed against a thin digital tablet hidden behind a board.
He pulled the dark tablet out into the bright afternoon sunlight.
Victoria watched from the doorway with her arms crossed tightly.
Victoria: That is just my old tablet for reading digital magazines!
Mark: Then you will not mind if I turn it on right now.
Mark pressed the power button on the side of the black tablet.
The screen lit up instantly showing a security camera monitoring app.
The camera feed was connected to hidden sensors inside the nursery ceiling.
Mark tapped the folder labeled with dates from the past three weeks.
A list of recorded video files appeared in order on the sharp screen.
He selected the file from two days ago when he was in Chicago.
The video began playing with clear sharp sound and bright colors.
Mark watched the screen as his whole face turned pale white.
