Brandon: Sarah, bring the baby up here into the study. I want to see those papers myself.
Sarah: Right away, Brandon.
Julianna: You step one foot up these stairs, Sarah, and I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life in prison for trespassing!
Brandon: She isn't trespassing, Julianna. She lives here. This is her home now.
Sarah walked up the wide carpeted steps, holding her son tightly against her shoulder while keeping a safe distance from Julianna. Brandon opened the door to his late father's private study, pointing toward the heavy mahogany desk.
Brandon: Show me where she hid them.
Sarah: Under the leather blotter. She thought I didn't see her put them there when the courier delivered them this morning.
Julianna: This is a violation of my privacy!
Brandon: This is my home, Julianna. You are a guest who has overstayed her welcome.
Brandon pulled back the thick leather desk blotter, revealing a sealed manila envelope stamped with the logo of the city's top estate law firm. He tore open the top, pulling out three crisp white pages.
Brandon: "Last Will and Testament Amendment of Arthur Sterling... to my legal grandson, son of David Sterling..."
Julianna: It's invalid! Dad wasn't in his right mind!
Brandon: The document is notarized by two independent witnesses and Dad's primary physician, Julianna. It's airtight.
Sarah: David wanted to tell you himself, Brandon, before the accident happened. But he was afraid Julianna would cause a scene and stress your father during his illness.
Brandon: David was right. She tried to throw his baby off a balcony to protect a bank account.
Julianna: I did it for us, Brandon! To keep the family fortune together!
Brandon: Don't drag me into your greed. I earned my own money. You've lived off Dad's charity your entire adult life.
Julianna: You think this maid can run the Sterling business holdings? She used to clean our bathrooms!
Sarah: I have a degree in business administration, Julianna. I worked as a maid here because David and I needed to keep our relationship quiet until the legal paperwork was completed.
Brandon: She's more qualified to run the trust than you'll ever be.
Julianna: I will sue both of you! I'll take this to every court in Texas!
Brandon: Go right ahead. And while you're at it, you can explain the security video from the hall to the judge.
Julianna froze, her breath catching in her throat as her eyes darted toward the corner of the ceiling near the chandelier.
Julianna: Security video?
Brandon: Dad installed motion-activated cameras in every hallway three months ago for his medical monitoring. Every single second of what you did on that balcony is recorded on a secure server.
Sarah: You dropped him on purpose, Julianna. The camera caught every bit of it.
