Evelyn walked down the long driveway in total darkness.
Her thin white gown offered no warmth against the wind.
She pulled out her smartphone with wet shaking hands.
She dialed the personal cell number of her trusted attorney.
Arthur: Evelyn, why are you calling me so late tonight?
Evelyn: Marcus just threw me out of the main house!
Arthur: Did he physically force you off the property?
Evelyn: He staged an accident and took away my daughter!
Arthur let out a deep sigh over the clear connection.
Arthur: Meet me at my city office in thirty minutes.
Evelyn hailed a yellow taxi near the grand front gate.
She sat in the back seat and wiped her eyes.
She vowed that she would fight back with everything left.
Thirty minutes later she entered the bright office building.
Arthur sat behind a large desk covered in white paper.
Arthur: Tell me every detail about what happened tonight.
Evelyn: He accused me of destroying the old crystal case.
Arthur: That case held his family's valuable trust documents.
Evelyn: He claimed I destroyed them to hide something bad.
Arthur adjusted his gold glasses and sat back thoughtfully.
Arthur: Marcus filed a temporary custody motion this morning.
Evelyn: Before the party even started tonight?
Arthur: Yes, he claimed you were financially irresponsible and crazy.
Evelyn: That proves the display accident was totally planned!
Arthur: We need hard physical evidence to convince the court.
Evelyn thought carefully about the grand foyer layout.
She remembered the tiny security camera near the high ceiling.
Evelyn: There is a hidden camera above the main door!
Arthur: Marcus controls all the security feeds in that house.
Evelyn: But the head guard, Thomas, is a good man.
Arthur: Do you think Thomas will help us legally?
Evelyn: He knows how cruel Marcus has been to everyone.
She reached for her phone to call the old guard.
