David lifted the heavy wooden lid of the carved decorative chest.
Inside lay a thick blue folder with official state seals stamped clearly.
He picked up the documents and began reading the dark lines quickly.
His eyes grew wide as he processed the legal names listed inside.
The papers showed a massive cash transfer from a secret account.
They proved that Victoria had paid off an agency to forge papers.
The document clearly named Sarah as the true birth mother of Leo.
It showed that Sarah never gave full legal consent for adoption.
David felt a deep wave of shock roll over his entire body.
He looked down at the lower floor where Victoria stood frozen.
David: Is this document true, Victoria? Tell me right now!
Victoria began to cry loud dramatic tears on the marble stairs.
Victoria: I did it for us, David, because we wanted a child!
David: You lied to me for two whole years about his origin!
David walked down the stairs carrying the blue folder in hand.
His face was red with anger and deep emotional betrayal now.
He looked at Sarah with a soft and deeply sorrowful gaze.
David: I am so sorry, Sarah, I had no idea about this.
Sarah: I just wanted my son to be safe and loved.
Victoria rushed down the steps and tried to grab the folder.
David pulled it away fast and pointed toward the large front door.
David: Do not touch these papers, Victoria, they belong to justice!
Victoria: You cannot believe this maid over your lawful wife, David!
David: The papers speak the truth, and your actions are terrible!
Sarah wiped her tears away and stood up straight and proud.
She looked up toward little Leo, who was watching from above.
The long darkness of secrets was finally ending in the light.
David pulled out his mobile phone to make an important call.
The family structure was breaking apart right before their eyes now.
