Eleanor: You can't prove anything, David! It's your word against mine! No court in Dallas will convict me on the word of a hysterical girl!
David: You forgot one critical detail about this house, Eleanor.
Eleanor: What detail? What are you talking about?
David: Look directly behind you, right above the framed flag on the balcony wall.
Eleanor turned her head slowly, her eyes widening as she spotted a small, dark glass lens hidden inside the crown molding. A tiny blue recording light blinked steadily against the white trim.
David: When Clara's father updated the security system last month, he installed ultra-high-definition motion cameras in every common area, including the upper balcony.
Eleanor: No... he told me those were just smoke detectors!
David: He knew you were stealing from the household accounts, Eleanor. He put them in to catch you in the act, but instead, he's going to watch you push his daughter off a balcony in full 4K video.
Eleanor: You... you're lying! He wouldn't spy on me!
David: The footage is already uploaded to our cloud server. I can pull it up on my phone right now and show it to the police officers who are turning into our driveway.
Downstairs, the faint sound of wailing police sirens echoed through the manicured suburban neighborhood, growing louder as patrol cars pulled through the estate gates. Eleanor's composure completely shattered, her face turning pale as she realized the severity of her situation.
Eleanor: David... please! We're family! Think of what this will do to the family business if this gets out to the press!
David: You didn't think about family when you shoved Clara over that railing!
Eleanor: I was desperate! My son owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to private lenders in Houston! They threatened to come after us if I didn't get the trust money!
David: So you tried to murder my wife to pay off your son's gambling debts?
Eleanor: I didn't want to hurt her! I just needed her out of the way so her father would sign the emergency power of attorney documents!
David: You're a sick, selfish woman.
David walked past her down the hallway, keeping a watchful eye on her movements as he reached the balcony edge to check on Clara below. The front doors burst open once again, and two uniformed Dallas police officers rushed into the foyer with their hands resting near their holsters.
Officer Miller: Police! Is everyone okay
