The hospital corridor was cold, quiet, and filled with bright light.
Julian paced back and forth near the private emergency room doors.
His three-piece suit was crumpled and marked from the marble floor.
His phone rang inside his jacket pocket, shattering the silence.
It was his family lawyer, Richard Vance, calling with urgent news.
Julian: Speak to me, Richard.
Richard: Julian, I am at the estate with the police detectives now.
Julian: Did she tell them the truth?
Richard: She is still claiming that Clara tripped over her own dress.
Julian squeezed the phone tightly against his ear in quiet rage.
Julian: She is lying to cover up her crime.
Richard: We need hard proof if we want formal charges to hold.
Julian remembered something important about the house security upgrades.
Just last week, he had installed smart cameras in the main foyer.
The camera was hidden neatly inside the central chandelier frame above.
Julian: Check the new security feed on my office server.
Richard: I did not know you had active cameras in the foyer.
Julian: I set them up to protect the entire house while away.
Richard promised to review the video footage immediately with the detectives.
Julian ended the call and walked back to Clara's hospital room door.
The doctor stepped out into the hallway, pulling off his gloves.
Julian: How are my wife and child?
Doctor Harris: Your wife has minor bruises and severe shock, sir.
Julian felt a huge weight lift from his heavy chest immediately.
Doctor Harris: Because you caught her, the unborn baby is fully safe.
Julian let out a long breath, wiping tears from his eyes.
Julian: Thank God... thank God!
He walked softly into the quiet room and sat beside Clara.
Clara opened her eyes slowly and looked at her devoted husband.
Clara: Did we save our little one?
Julian: Yes, my love, you are both completely fine.
Clara squeezed his hand weakly, letting out a faint, quiet sigh.
Clara: What will happen to your mother now?
Julian: She will face the full consequences of what she did today.
