A Maid Found a Bound Child Hidden Inside a Mansion Wall

The polished marble floors of the Vance mansion gleamed under the soft glow of crystal chandeliers, radiating an air of untouchable luxury. Guests dressed in tailored tuxedos and floor-length gowns mingled across the grand foyer, their laughter blending with the soft clinking of champagne glasses. Maya adjusted her crisp white apron, carrying a heavy silver tray loaded with crystal flutes, moving quietly among the wealthy crowd like an invisible shadow.

Guest: The annual charity gala is simply magnificent this year, Eleanor.

Eleanor: Only the finest for our family estate. Every detail must be immaculate.

Maya kept her head down, walking briskly down the side corridor toward the grand wing. But as she passed a massive framed classical portrait resting against the white wood paneled wall, a muffled, metallic sound stopped her dead in her tracks. It was a faint, desperate rhythmic thumping, accompanied by the distinct sound of a child weeping behind the plaster.

Maya: What is that?

Setting her silver tray down on a marble side table, the champagne glasses clinking loudly in the quiet hallway, Maya stepped closer to the giant painting. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she noticed a thin seam in the decorative trim. Placing her palms flat against the wooden frame, she pushed with all her strength.

The concealed secret door gave way with a heavy, creaking groan, sliding open into the wall cavity. Maya gasped in pure horror, dropping to her knees on the cold floor. Inside the narrow, windowless dark space sat a terrified seven-year-old girl, her mouth tightly sealed with black duct tape, her tiny wrists bound tightly behind her back in cold steel handcuffs.

Maya: Oh my god!

Lily: Mmmph! Mmmph!

Maya reached forward without hesitation, her hands shaking as she pulled off the tape and unclipped the steel cuffs, freeing the little girl's wrists. The child collapsed into Maya's arms, her small body shivering violently as tear tracks cut through the grime on her face. But before Maya could pull her out completely, a sharp, icy voice cut through the dim hallway light, freezing both of them in place.

Eleanor: Put the painting back!
