A Secret Saved in Ink

The Secrets Behind a Golden Locket Revealed in Small Town

Sam walked over to his bike and picked up an extra helmet.

He handed the blue helmet down to the brave little girl standing near.

Mia: Are we going to see my aunt Clara right now?

Sam: No, Clara is the one who kept this secret from you all along.

Mia gasped softly as the heavy helmet was placed over her hair.

She fastened the strap under her chin just like Sam showed her.

Sam: Your aunt took the family business after Sarah disappeared from town.

Mia: She told me my mom left because she did not want us.

Sam: That was a terrible lie told to protect her own big money.

Sam started the engine with a deep loud roar that echoed around.

Mia climbed up behind him and held onto his thick leather vest.

They rode down the main street past the quiet wooden houses.

The wind felt cool against her face as they moved very fast.

They pulled up outside a small red brick office building near town.

A brass sign near the door said legal services in dark letters.

Sam turned off the bike engine and lifted Mia down carefully.

Sam: Mr. Miller has been waiting years to hand over these papers.

Mia: What kind of papers did my mother leave behind for me?

Sam: The ownership documents for the entire land under the old mill.

They walked inside the cool hallway that smelled like old paper books.

An elderly man with white hair looked up from behind a desk.

His eyes softened the moment he saw the little green locket hanging.

Mr. Miller: You have your mother's brave eyes, little girl.

Mia: Do you know what happened to my mom ten years ago?

Mr. Miller: She left a trust fund and the deed right here in my safe.

He stood up slowly and walked over to a heavy iron box.

Mr. Miller: Sarah knew her sister wanted to take the family inheritance away.

Mia: Aunt Clara took everything and made me live in the small room.

Sam: That ends today once we sign these official court papers together.

Mr. Miller set a thick Manila envelope down on the wooden desk.

He pulled out three folded sheets with bright red notary stamps on top.

Mr. Miller: This document proves Sarah gave full guardianship rights to Sam.

Mia looked at Sam with wide eyes full of sudden hope inside.

Mia: My mom wanted you to take care of me if she gone?

Sam: She trusted me more than anyone else in this whole world.

Mr. Miller: Clara hid the second copy of the will in her own house.

Mia: She keeps a locked wooden box inside her bedroom closet always.

Sam: Then that is where we are going right now to finish this.
