Two security guards came running down the marble hallway after hearing the commotion near the elevators.
They stopped in their tracks when they saw the company chief executive holding open documents.
Guard: Mr. Davis, is everything okay sir?
David: Call the police immediately and tell them we have an active fraud situation.
Eleanor: Do not listen to him!
Eleanor shouted at the guards with her face flushed bright red with sudden panic.
Eleanor: He is confused and emotional due to personal stress!
David: Look at these forged signatures on corporate asset transfers right here.
David showed the top document to the head security officer who stepped closer to read it.
The officer looked at the signature and then looked up at Eleanor with deep concern.
Guard: Mrs. Davis, you need to stay right here while we sort this out.
Eleanor: I own this entire facility and I will have you fired by noon!
David: You do not own anything that was obtained through illegal fraud, Eleanor.
David walked back down the white floor to where his children were waiting safely.
Lily reached out her small hands to touch her father's knee as he knelt again.
Lily: Are we going home now, Daddy?
David: Yes, sweet girl, we are going home very soon.
Lily: Is Mommy coming with us in the car?
David: No, honey, Mommy has to answer some very important questions first.
David pulled his phone out of his coat pocket and dialed his family attorney Marcus.
Marcus had served as his father's personal legal counsel for over twenty-five years straight.
Marcus: David, what is happening at the corporate office right now?
David: Marcus, I need you at headquarters with the police fraud department immediately.
Marcus: Did she try to execute the trust transfer today?
David: She forged my name on the final bank settlement forms an hour ago.
Marcus: I have the original land titles locked in my office safe right now.
David: Bring them here as fast as you can drive across town.
David hung up the phone and held baby Sammy close against his warm woolen coat.
Eleanor stood near the glass doors surrounded by the two security officers who refused to leave.
She glared at David with intense hatred that shocked everyone standing nearby on that floor.
