The Shove on the Marble

A Cruel Woman Threw a Baby Off the Mansion Balcony

Julian: Get out of my house this instant, or you will regret it!

Evelyn: Julian, darling, please listen to me! It was an accident! He slipped out of my hands!

Julian: Slipping doesn't launch a baby into the air over a second-story railing!

Maria: She looked right at me, Mr. Sterling! She called him a parasite and threw him on purpose!

Evelyn: Don't listen to this filthy servant, Julian! She's making up wild stories to get me fired!

Julian: Maria saved my son's life while you tried to murder him in cold blood!

Evelyn thrashed her legs against the marble floor, trying to push herself up, but her green gown caught under her heels. She clutched her hip, wincing in pain as she glared at the maid holding the crying infant.

Evelyn: I am your fiancée, Julian! We are supposed to get married next month!

Julian: The wedding is canceled! Our engagement is over!

Evelyn: You can't cancel the wedding! Our families have signed a binding merger contract for the real estate firm!

Julian: I don't give a damn about a real estate merger! You tried to kill my child!

Evelyn: Think about your company's standing in Dallas, Julian! What will the board of directors say when they hear about this scene?

Julian: They will say that I kicked a monster out of my home, Evelyn!

Julian turned away from her, dropping to his knees beside Maria on the cold white marble floor. He carefully scooped baby Leo into his arms, pulling the small, shivering infant tight against his velvet maroon jacket.

Julian: I've got you, Leo... Daddy's got you, baby. Shh, you're safe now.

Maria: His heart is racing, Mr. Sterling, but he didn't touch the floor. My knees took the full impact.

Julian: Are you hurt, Maria? Let me see your knees.

Maria: Just a little bruised, sir. The fabric of my uniform tore, but I don't care about that. I'm just glad little Leo is okay.

Julian: You saved my son's life today, Maria. I can never repay you for what you did.

Evelyn: Oh, give me a break! You're treating a housemaid like a hero for doing her basic job!

Julian: Catching a falling infant on stone tiles isn't a maid's basic job, Evelyn! It's an act of bravery!

Evelyn: She did it for attention! She probably planned the whole thing with the security staff!

Julian: Keep quiet, Evelyn! Every time you open your mouth, you make yourself look more pathetic!

Evelyn dragged herself up into a sitting position, her face flushed with humiliation as she looked around at the two security guards standing by the front double doors. The guards held their positions, their faces expressionless as they ignored her desperate glares.

Evelyn: Guards! What are you standing there for?! Escort this maid out of the house!

Guard 1: We report directly to Mr. Sterling, ma'am. Not to you.

Evelyn: My father pays half of your security firm's retainer fee!

Julian: Your father's firm won't be paying anyone by the time my lawyers finish with them, Evelyn!

Evelyn: What is that supposed to mean?!

Julian: It means I am filing full criminal charges and suing your family for emotional distress and breach of fiduciary duty!

Evelyn: You wouldn't dare! My father is the most powerful investor in Texas!

Julian: Your father is an investor who is about to watch his daughter go to state prison for attempted murder!
