A Secret In The Contract

A Bride Cries At Altar When Groom Betrays Her Family

The soft breeze blew through the leaves of the large oak trees overhead.

Nobody in the crowd moved as the tension grew thicker on the lawn.

Sarah looked at her groom with wide eyes full of rising concern.

Sarah: Mark, tell me what is going on right now!

Mark: It is just business between our fathers, Sarah.

Sarah: Business? This is our wedding day!

David stepped into the center aisle between the rows of chairs.

He held a folded piece of white paper in his shaking right hand.

David: Richard promised to extend the loan deadline until next year!

Richard: The contract you signed had a early foreclosure clause, David.

David: You tricked me into signing over the family estate trust!

The guests began talking loudly to each other in shock.

Sarah felt tears burning behind her eyes as she heard her father's words.

She turned her face toward Mark to search his eyes for answers.

Sarah: Mark, did you know about this clause?

Mark: My father knows what is best for the investment firm, Sarah.

Sarah: Answer my question! Did you know about this?!

Mark rubbed the back of his neck and refused to look at her.

Mark: We need capital for our new mansion after the wedding.

Sarah gasped loudly and took a step back from her groom.

She could not believe the words that were coming out of his mouth.

The man she loved had planned this financial trap with his father.

They wanted to take her family's land to fund their own lifestyle.

Her bridesmaid stepped up behind Sarah to steady her shoulder.

Bridesmaid: Sarah, do you want to step inside for a moment?

Sarah: No! I want the truth right here!

Richard walked up the steps toward the wooden altar with a sharp smile.

Richard: The lawsuit is already filed, Sarah. The estate is ours now.

David: You stole my late wife's inheritance from my daughter!

Richard: It was a legal mortgage agreement signed by you.

Sarah felt her hands trembling as rage and sadness washed over her.

She remembered her late mother's promise about keeping the family home safe.

Her mother had left that land to Sarah in her original will.

Now Mark and his father were trying to strip away her legacy.

Sarah: You planned this whole wedding just to secure the land!

Mark: That is not true, Sarah! I really do love you!

Sarah: Then stop your father right now!

Mark looked at his father and then looked back at Sarah.

He stood frozen on the grass and did not move an inch.

He was too weak to stand up to his powerful father.

Sarah felt her heart break into a thousand tiny pieces.

She realized her entire relationship had been built on a lie.

The guests were standing up now, watching the drama unfold.

Guest 1: This is absolutely horrible behavior from the groom!

Guest 2: They are taking advantage of her father's trust!

Sarah took off her lace veil and dropped it onto the green grass.
